ABOUT
Alex Arck
Alex Arck is a Michigan-based Emcee, spoken word poet, guitarist, and Film Maker.
Alex’s musical journey began at the early age of 6 when he first picked up a guitar and started learning how to play. A few years later he was introduced to Hip-Hop. He quickly fell in love with the way that the genre combined music and poetry. Being a huge fan of comics, films, anime, and all things story-driven inspired him to begin developing his own writing style through spoken word.
Throughout his teen years, he experimented with combining his passion for spoken word with his love of music. He was never fully happy with the result and decided to keep the two separate for the time being.
During this time he played guitar and wrote songs in several Michigan-based rock bands. Touring around the Midwest and frequenting recording studios gave him a musical outlet but the bulk of his writing remained a private labor of love. Eventually, he reached an artistic crossroads and realized that writing songs for other vocalists and only performing as a guitarist wasn’t the path that he needed to take.
This led to a 2-year hiatus from live performance and releasing music of any kind. During this time he worked tirelessly alongside music producer and long-time collaborator Andrew Lori to finally unearth a sound and style that had been brewing in his head for years.
With the music where he wanted it to be, he began working on the visuals. Taking a cinematic approach to each music video, he drew off of his love for sci-fi, campy horror films, and 90s comedies to complete the stories that the songs had started.
Working alongside his partner and career photographer Kya Liann, he aims to use videography and music together to complete each piece.
